Background

Tony's solo career began in 1991. Previous to that his band 'The Popular Wobblies' (aka 'Short Stories') toured extensively and gained a respectable following. Their exploits included an appearance to launch the 1986 National Motorway Safety Campaign at New Scotland Yard where, it is believed, they were only the second group ever to have performed. (The first we are reliably informed being 'The Who'! ).

In 1994 Tony joined forces with lead guitarist David Weston to form the funky/rocky group 'MAMWF', who literally electrified Tony's songs giving him inspiration to write in a more rocky style. A 6-song demo 'Ever Increasing Circles' was released by 'MAMWF' who disbanded in 1998. In 2000 Tony re-joined most of the MAMWF band in a new venture, the short lived Box of Rain which disbanded at the end of 2001. Various members of MAMWF and Box of Rain appear on Tony's 'Satans Zoo' album and will doubtless appear backing Tony at some time in the future.

In 2002 Tony (assisted by the redoubtable Matthew Fish) took his one-man show 'Singing in the Bath' to the Edinburgh Fringe where he received a 4 star review in 'Three Weeks'. The show that started as a Red Nose Day stunt is still available for booking : 60-90 minutes of quirkily, hilarious songs and poems!

And in complete contrast, a new relationship with pianist Steven Turnbull has produced an evening of love songs where Tony casts aside his guitar and is able to concentrate on the vocals whilst Steven provides some beautiful accompaniment. Although predominantly serious, the humour is still bubbling under the surface. This show, again, is available for booking.

Last but not least, Tony has enjoyed working with the band 'Songs from the Blue House' - an exotic mix of mid-atlantic folk rock - with whom he plays banjo. See their website www.songsfromthebluehouse.com
